Ransom (Randy Nicholls) is a Jersey City rapper who moved to the city around age eight and built his reputation as one of the most technically precise MCs on the New Jersey mixtape circuit.

He is one half of the A-Team alongside Hitchcock, a duo affiliated with DJ Clue's Desert Storm alongside Fabolous and Stack Bundles.
The A-Team released the Hardhood Classics mixtape trilogy, earning a reputation for punishing punchlines and grimy street verses that defined the era's bar-for-bar standard.
After a Def Jam deal did not materialize the A-Team split around 2006; Ransom has continued a prolific solo career.
In the A-Team era the duo was managed by Orlando Wharton — later a Capitol Music Group EVP and president of Priority Records — as part of his Presidential Crew.
