The Jersey City Sound is a static archive. We do not run ads, we do not sell data, and we collect only what is needed to publish the archive and act on the corrections people send us.
What we collect§
Suggest-an-edit submissions. When you use the suggest-an-edit form, we receive what you type — the entry or page, your message, and, if you choose to provide them, a source link and your email address. The form is delivered by Formspree, which processes the submission on our behalf.
Basic analytics. Like most sites, our host may record aggregate, technical information — page views, referring links, approximate location, browser and device type, and IP address — to keep the site running and understand what is read. We do not use this to build advertising profiles.
Why we collect it§
Form submissions are used to review and publish corrections and contributions, and to follow up or credit you if you left an email. Analytics are used to maintain the site and prioritize what to document next. That is all.
Sharing§
We do not sell or rent your information. It is handled by the service providers that operate the site — our form provider (Formspree) and our host/CDN (Cloudflare) — each under its own privacy terms, solely to deliver these functions. We may disclose information if required by law.
Retention & your choices§
We keep form submissions as long as needed to act on them and maintain the archive's editorial record. You can ask us to access or delete the information you sent, or to remove personal details from an entry — see Corrections & Removal. To make a request, email editor@jerseycitysound.com.
If you are in a jurisdiction with data-protection rights (such as the EU/UK under GDPR or California under CCPA), those rights apply and we will honor good-faith requests to access or delete your personal information.
Changes§
If this policy changes materially, the updated date above will reflect it.
