DJ Mad Money — born James Gadsden, and billed over the years as Mad Money and Man Money — is a Jersey City mixtape DJ active since approximately 1989, one of the longest-running figures in the scene's documented history.
In the Record§
He is the producer of the Street Blends series, including Phase 20 and Phase 21 — tape series spanning decades that reflect the sustained output of a career DJ.
In the 2006 WizTV documentary he recalls the era when a Jersey City mixtape could earn a DJ $2,000 or more, and names Devil Seven as a peer from that period, placing the city's tape economy in historical context.
His classic, high-energy “Jersey City-style” mixes from the Chilltown circuit remain highly regarded, and he is counted among the influential DJs of the city's hip-hop and mixtape community.
