Chill Rob G (born Robert Frazier) is a rapper from Jersey City, New Jersey, and a founding member of DJ Mark the 45 King's legendary Flavor Unit collective -- one of the defining hip-hop crews of the Golden Era.
In the Record§
His 1989 debut album 'Ride the Rhythm' (Wild Pitch Records), produced by The 45 King, is widely cited as a classic of the era, featuring 'Court Is Now in Session' and 'Dope Rhymes'.
His song 'Let the Words Flow' was sampled without permission by German dance group Snap! for their global hit 'The Power' (1990), one of the most commercially successful acts of unauthorized sampling in early 1990s pop.
He returned with 'Empires Crumble' (2022, SpitSLAM/Chuck D's label), a boom bap comeback featuring a Flavor Unit reunion with The 45 King, Lakim Shabazz, and others, followed by 'Survival of the Better' (2026), executive produced by Chuck D and produced entirely by C-Doc.
In the Chill Town J.C. Hip-Hop Documentary he speaks at length about the "Let the Words Flow" / "The Power" saga — recounting how Snap!'s Turbo B performed the reworked material while his own version stood on the smaller Wild Pitch label — and recalls the early Chilltown DJs who would not let him grab the microphone before his rise.
