Stephen Friedland (born September 29, 1940), known as Brute Force, is an American singer and songwriter from Jersey City, New Jersey, who was part of the New York avant-pop scene of the 1960s.

He wrote and performed with The Tokens and wrote songs recorded by Peggy March, Del Shannon, The Chiffons, and The Cyrkle, building a reputation as an unconventional pop craftsman.
His 1969 single 'King of Fuh' was released on Apple Records, making it one of the label's most unusual releases and earning him a lasting cult following.
