The Spellbinders were a Jersey City soul and doo-wop group, formed in the mid-1960s by MacArthur Munford with James Wright, Bobby Shivers, Ben Grant, and Elouise Pennington.
“For You” reached the Top 25 on the Billboard R&B chart (1965, Columbia Records).

Signed to Columbia Records in 1965 under producer Van McCoy, they charted with the Top-25 R&B hit “For You” and “Help Me (Get Myself Back Together Again),” with “Chain Reaction” and “Help Me” hitting in the UK; their album The Magic of the Spellbinders is regarded as a soul classic.
They toured extensively with Jackie Wilson, Joe Tex, and Wilson Pickett before breaking up by 1969.
