Riggamortis, born James Hamilton and also known as Jigga Brown, was a legendary Jersey City underground hip-hop artist, a revered MC known for fierce, rapid-fire bars and a staple of the city's rap and Alumni scene before his passing.
In the Record§
He is credited by community voices with sharpening a generation of MCs: 'the man that made me perfect my punchlines,' as one tribute put it.
DJ Flash, in a firsthand account given to this archive in 2026, states that he and Riggamortis were first cousins and that the 1950s Jersey City R&B star Roy Hamilton was their great-great-grandfather.
Born James Hamilton, he shared the Hamilton family name with his first cousin DJ Flash, who records as DJ Flash Hamilton, of the family line that names Roy Hamilton as its forebear.
