Philip Frederick Wright James (May 17, 1890 -- November 1, 1975) was an American composer, conductor, and music educator born in Jersey City, New Jersey.

In the Record§

He chaired the music department at New York University for many years and composed works for orchestra, chamber ensemble, and voice, with several pieces performed by major American orchestras during the mid-twentieth century.
