Ozzie Nelson was born in Jersey City on March 20, 1906, and became one of the most popular American bandleaders of the 1930s.

His orchestra recorded a string of national hits in the 1930s, including “And Then Some,” reported as a number 1 record in 1935 in the era before the Billboard singles chart existed (retrospective ranking per Joel Whitburn's Pop Memories).
He later created and starred in the radio and television series The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet, and was the father of the rock and roll singer Ricky Nelson.
