Johnny Rotella (November 4, 1920 -- September 11, 2014) was an American woodwind player, session musician, and songwriter from Jersey City, New Jersey, whose career spanned more than six decades.

He wrote over 200 songs, including the Frank Sinatra standard 'Nothing but the Best', and his woodwind playing appears on countless recordings from the 1940s through the 1990s as one of the most in-demand session reed players in New York.
