This page checks an archive record against The Jersey City Sound's cryptographic seal, entirely in your browser. Nothing is sent anywhere. The seal proves integrity and provenance — that the page and its cited facts are unchanged since the archive signed them. It does not prove the facts are true; that is the cite-or-cut standard's job.
How this works
The archive holds one did:web identity and an Ed25519 signing key. Each sealed entry gets a W3C Verifiable Credential binding a hash of the page text to its chart-facts record. Every seal is written to an append-only, hash-chained ledger whose head is periodically anchored on the public web (Internet Archive and X). To verify, this page fetches the credential, re-hashes the live page, checks the signature against the published key, and replays the chain. A hostile copy of the site could alter this verifier itself, which is why the external anchors are the ultimate backstop. See the seal ledger and DID document.
